The coming two-year term will bring many challenges, as we face a budget with a projected $3-billion deficit. Although the economy is showing initial signs of improvement, the recovery is expected to be slow and state tax revenues will be the slowest to regain previous levels.

I have been a strong voice for fiscal responsibility and will continue to advocate for state reforms that are needed to restore our competitiveness in attracting businesses and jobs.
